Alex Asperslagh
Alexander Petrus "Alex" Asperslagh was a Dutch
painter, glazier and ceramist. Asperslagh (officially:
Asperslag) was born in The Hague, the son of tailor
Wilhelmus Johannes Asperslag and Maria Hermina van der
Horst. He was a brother of artists Lou Asperslagh
(1893-1949) and Henk Asperslagh (1906-1964).
Asperslagh studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in
The Hague. He worked at the Lensier Toon Berg in
Dordrecht. His brother Lou opened his own studio in
1923, the 'studio of arts industry' or St. Silvester
in The Hague, for which Alex and Henk also worked.
Asperslagh came from Catholics and did a lot of work
for churches. He died at the
age of 83. A collection of watercolours and design
drawings is located in the Catholic Documentation
Centre in Nijmegen
